Will we fly over the city of Barcelona?

No, and it is important to be clear about this. Hot air balloons cannot be steered, and cities are not suitable or safe for ballooning. We fly over open countryside near Barcelona — areas such as Igualada, Manresa, Vic, La Cerdanya, the Empordà and the Costa Brava, roughly 45 to 90 minutes from the city. You will see the real landscapes of Catalonia at sunrise, which is far more beautiful than any rooftop view of the city.

How do I get there from Barcelona? Is there a pick-up?

You can drive to the meeting point, or add an optional pick-up when you book — tell us your hotel or address and we will confirm the options and times. Meeting time is around 7 a.m. in summer and 8 a.m. in winter, so plan for an early start.

How long does the whole experience last?

The flight itself lasts about one hour. The full morning — meeting, inflating the balloon, flying, landing, recovery and the celebration toast — takes around three hours.

Why do we start so early?

At dawn the air is cool, calm and stable, which is exactly what safe, gentle ballooning needs. As the day warms up the conditions become unsuitable, so all flights take off shortly after sunrise.

Is hot air ballooning safe?

It is a calm activity led by pilots certified under European (EASA) regulations and covered by passenger insurance. Safety always comes first: the pilot decides whether to fly based on the weather and the terrain, and will postpone rather than take any risk.

Will I feel vertigo or fear of heights?

Most people who fear heights do not feel vertigo in a balloon. Unlike a balcony or a ladder, the basket has no nearby edge to look down over, and the balloon rises slowly and smoothly. You stand inside a basket that reaches above waist height.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We watch the forecast closely and contact you before the flight to confirm. If conditions are not suitable we arrange a new date, and if the weather turns suddenly before take-off the pilot may postpone — at no extra cost to you.

Who can fly? Can children and older travellers join?

Travellers of all ages have flown with us. The one general restriction is that pregnant women cannot fly. For children, older passengers or any health or mobility need, contact us before booking and we will confirm the details for your case.

Is it cold up in the balloon?

Surprisingly, you do not feel colder because of the altitude. Just dress comfortably for an early morning in the countryside, with closed shoes — no heels or sandals.

Where does the balloon land?

It is never known exactly in advance, because the wind decides. Our ground crew follows the balloon throughout the flight and collects you at the landing spot. The landing can be soft or a little firmer depending on conditions, and the pilot explains the position to adopt beforehand.

What is included in the flight?

Your flight, a cava (Catalan sparkling wine) toast on landing, a flight certificate and photos of the activity. You can compare the shared, private and gastronomic options on the booking page.
